I'm a big fan of Halloween and have been ever since I was a child. For this reason, I often try to include something in our October issue that relates to Halloween. This time, it wasn't ghost stories that caught my eye. As I read through the Wild Violet submissions, planning this issue, a pattern emerged among some stories that made a sort of ghostly sense.

These stories seemed to fit neatly together, all of them set in a world that was just slightly askew, where the fantastic could happen alongside the ordinary: a sort of daydream in the midst of reality.

Simultaneously, I received some flash fiction and poetry with a similar feel. Even the essay section has some dreamlike qualities: after all, the world of professional wrestling strikes me as more than a little dreamlike.

As we begin the fourth year of Wild Violet, I invite you to enter the Dream Zone.
