Interview by Rada Djurica

What's the difference between Croatian and Serbian pop music?

A far as I know, serious a Serbian pop music establishment almost doesn't exist. In Serbia pop musicians belong to a middle class that is financially very poor. This is the reason why pop in Serbia doesn't survive as it does in Croatia. Croatia now is living slightly better than Serbia, the middle class and intellectuals I think.

If you were offered a serious project with some pop boy band from MTV, would you agree to be part of it?

Of course I wouldn't, the compromise is not worthwhile. Everyone should do his own music with musicians that he or she can respect. Only then can the relationship bring results.

How did you feel when you heard you have been nominated for an MTV Award?

Brilliant. Being nominated for any MTV category is a big deal. I feel like I am Armstrong who stepped on the Moon; this is a small step for me, and big for Croatian music.

What kind of music do you listen to when you want to relax?

I am listening to different music. At the moment I'm stuck with one Italian musician called Renato Zero. Last summer I was intensively listening to Charlie Rich and plenty of American blues.

Would you write music for a theatre play or a film?

I've already written music for the band I belong to, Metal Guru performance. And Metal Guru is the music fraction of a non-government community LAE - Labin Art Express.

If you would be given a chance to play in Jim Jarmusch's film, would you do it?

I've suggested to a few domestic film directors to engage me in the film, because I have this feeling and I'm sure I would be very good.
