after Rapunzell shaved her head,
and Humpty Dumpty got talked out
of jumping, it was a pretty quiet
afternoon--full of green stars and
crayola-colored rabbits,

on spoonfuls of nutmeg-and-philosophy
-mixed, over gardens of easter eggs
and jack-o-lanterns. it seemed
so bluntly run-of-the-mill
no one noticed the clown
being crucified.
