Beauty is in the Gaps

 By Tracy Yaffa Teague

I had a friend who had a gap between her teeth. I almost envied her that gap; it was so unusual, so rare. It made her kind of sexy, I thought. I used to think that it made her mysterious, that flaw. You hardly ever see anyone's flaws anymore. Perfect people are so boring.

It reminds me of how I used to think that when you die someday, you have to stand before the Creator and display your scars. If you didn't have any, it would prove you hadn't lived and you would be sent back.

It's our imperfections that make us who we are, our imperfections that make us beautiful.
