The story begins in England in the Thirties, before World War II. Briony
Tallis lives a wealthy life in a romantic Victorian country house. Her
perfect life is ruined when she accuses her sister's lover, a housekeeper's
son, of assaulting her. Many years later, after the war, a grown-up
Briony copes with her guilt.
If nothing, this film is magnificent for its use of innovative and
tricky new camera angles. Wright's vision captures mid-century Britain
through modern eyes, while paying respects to history.
