Join the NaPoWriMo Challenge
In honor of National Poetry Month, Wild Violet invites you to join the NaPoWriMo (National Poetry Writing Month) challenge of writing 30 poems in 30 days. Since we are getting started a little late, here are five prompts to inspire you. Use them or not, as you like, and feel free to share your results. We prefer that you post your poem elsewhere: on your blog or as a Facebook post, for example. Then share the link(s) in the comments. Write a tanka (see Poetry.org for info on the form). Since moving to a weekly format last year, Wild Violet has completely burned through our backlog. In addition, submissions slowed down over the holiday season, so we are moving temporarily to a biweekly format. Please get the word out to any appropriate forums, letting them know that we are actively seeking poetry, fiction, artwork, photography, humor, flash fiction, and more. For full details, visit our submissions page. We hope to be back to a weekly format by spring!

The experience has made me grateful for my normally healthy son, who is mostly cheerful even when battling illness. What do you have to be grateful...
